‘Some sort of issue’: There is a chance Liverpool’s ‘world-class’ player could leave this summer - journalist

Liverpool are about to undergo a summer of serious changes.

A new manager is set to be installed, and there’s been chat about a number of key players potentially leaving.

Mohamed Salah’s links to Saudi Arabia continue to persist, while Fabrizio Romano has reported that Trent Alexander-Arnold is being eyed by Real Madrid.

Now, another potential Liverpool departure has been touted.

Indeed, according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, there’s a small chance that Alisson Becker leaves Anfield this summer.

Alisson could leave Liverpool

Jones shared what he’s heard about the ‘world-class’ goalkeeper.

“I don’t know if the attack will be overhauled. There’s other things they want to do, particularly in defence. There’s a small chance Alisson leaves, that might come onto the radar, that might be some sort of issue they have to deal with there as well, there’s a lot that needs sorting out here,” Jones said.

Alisson isn’t as important as he was

Alisson is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the world, but it does feel as though this departure wouldn’t be so damaging at this point in time.

Indeed, Alisson has missed large periods of this campaign, and the Reds have done just fine without him.

Caoimhin Kelleher has shown that he’s more than good enough, and while it undoubtedly a downgrade, if Liverpool can get a huge fee for Alisson and reallocate those funds smartly, perhaps this could be a decent move.

Of course, losing arguably your best goalkeeper of all-time is never going to be a positive, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world in the same way it may have been a few seasons ago.

Kelleher is waiting in the wings if Alisson does go, and, to be honest, Liverpool won’t be in such a terrible position if the Brazilian is sold.
