However, there was arguably an even better European performance for a Liverpool player yesterday.
The Reds’ under-19 side took on their Dutch counterparts in the UEFA Youth League yesterday afternoon.
Liverpool ran out 4-0 winners at the Kirkby Academy, giving them two wins out of two.

The 18-year-old was in fantastic form, and added to the goal he scored against Napoli last week.
Cannonier signed a long-term deal at Liverpool last month, and Reds fans will be over the moon his future will be at Anfield.
The England under-18 international has already trained with Jurgen Klopp’s first-team, and was once compared to Philippe Coutinho.

The young forward took to Instagram after the match to celebrate this achievement.
He posted two pictures of him celebrating with the caption: “Great team performance! Happy to get a Hat trick in @uefayouthleague”.
A number of Cannonier’s Liverpool teammates reacted to his post.
Stefan Bajcetic said: “Mr goal”, while goalkeeper Harvey Davies wrote, “Some player”.
Fellow Liverpool forward Layton Stewart said, “What a player!”
While Bobby Clark called Cannonier a “Bagsman”.
Cannonier scores Liverpool hat-trick (Instagram)Cannonier has been playing for Liverpool’s under-21s this season, but hasn’t quite replicated his European form at that level.
The young forward is eligible for Liverpool’s under-18s but has already been promoted to the next age group.
He’s appeared in six domestic matches this season, but has yet to find the back of the net.

The youngster will be hoping it convinces Klopp and his first-team coaches to call him up to the squad once again.
