Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed the pace and strength of Liverpool defenders Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.
Guardiola told his post-match press conference that Erling Haaland had a tough challenge up against the defensive duo last night.
Haaland did open the scoring during the 3-2 win where City took the lead three times and eventually stopped getting pegged back.
They will now face Southampton in the quarter-finals, while Liverpool lost their grip on the trophy they won at Wembley last season.

Guardiola said of Haaland’s return to fitness: “(Haaland) scored a great goal today, helped us a lot, fought against Matip and Gomez, who are so strong and fast as well, so that’s why it is a next step.
“A good 75 minutes, he was exhausted.”
Liverpool were without Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold last night, with makeshift right-back James Milner also going off injured in the first half.
That does not make it easy for any team, but Liverpool will be disappointed with the nature of the goals they conceded, especially Nathan Ake’s winner.
Last night did show the strength of City’s squad and their intention to hit the ground running straight after the World Cup.
Liverpool need to find the consistency which has eluded them so far this season when they resume their Premier League campaign.
