‘Slept on’: BBC pundit says nobody realises how important £45m player actually is at Liverpool

Liverpool need to find another way to score goals in the coming weeks.

The Reds are without their star attacker, Mohamed Salah, for a while now as he heads off to the African Cup of Nations, and they need to find someone else to take up the goalscoring baton.

Luckily, Liverpool have plenty of fantastic attacking options at their disposal, and speaking on the BBC Planet Premier League Podcast, Nedum Onuoha has named Diogo Jota as Liverpool’s most important attacker during this period.

Onuoha says that Jota is more important than people realise, claiming that he’s a slept on member of this incredible attacking unit.

Jota underrated

Onuoha spoke about the £45m attacker.

“My opinion on this is that in times like this the most important player in Liverpool’s frontline is Jota. In terms of things that lead to big chances and goals, Jota is so important,” Onuoha said.

“To see him doing what he’s doing right now, he’s a full international, he’s a slept on part of what is a very good Liverpool frontline when everyone is available.”

Brilliant

Onuoha is spot on, Jota is very underrated in this Liverpool team.

Aside from Salah, he’s probably the most consistent finisher in the side, and his movement allows others to create chances as well.

Darwin Nunez has been misfiring as of late, and it may well be an idea to play Jota as that number nine alongside both Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo on the flanks.

Jota certainly has to step up during this period as Salah’s absence could be a big issue for Liverpool in their hunt for a Premier League title.

If Liverpool can get through this next few weeks unscathed, then they will have a fantastic chance of going on to win the league this season.
