Jurgen Klopp has decided to leave Liverpool.
The German announced on Friday that he was leaving the Reds at the end of the season, and while this move has taken many by surprise, Tottenham Hotspur perhaps weren’t too shocked by this call.
Indeed, speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Lyall Thomas has been discussing Klopp’s departure from Liverpool, and he says that Tottenham were actually telling new signings and potential new staff appointments in the summer that Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola’s times at Liverpool and Manchester City respectively were coming to an end.

Thomas shared what he’d heard about Spurs’ discussions with new signings.
“In their discussions with players, managers, Sporting Directors or Technical Directors who they brought in. I heard that Spurs were telling potential new signings and staff members that they see a chance to establish themselves as one of if not the top clubs, and that was because they believed the Klopp and Guardiola cycles were coming to an end,” Thomas said.
Time to capitalise
Tottenham told new arrivals that they were ready to take advantage of the Klopp and Guardiola eras coming to an end, and now, it’s time to capitalise.
Tottenham spoke about becoming one of the best clubs in the world once Klopp left, and now, they have to show their intent in the summer.
A big summer of signings and spending is necessary for Spurs to bridge this gap, because, make no mistake about it, Liverpool won’t give up easily.
The Reds will try their very best to replace Klopp and kick on even further, while the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle and Aston Villa will all have the same ideas as Spurs in terms of taking Liverpool’s spot.
What the post-Klopp Premier League looks like remains to be seen, but it sounds as though Spurs want to be the team who take advantage of this situation
