Rio Ferdinand was amazed by what Liverpool’s Trant Alexander-Arnold has said about Manchester City ahead of the big game this weekend.

The Reds are having an excellent season. They are on top of the Premier League table, and three points on Sunday will make them the absolute favourites to win the title. Liverpool‘s Alexander-Arnold has said some things now that could annoy people at Manchester City.

Rio Ferdinand reacts to what Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold said about Manchester City

Liverpool and Manchester City have had an extraordinary rivalry in the Premier League over the years.

Pep Guardiola’s side have come out on top more often than that, and that makes them the more successful team out of the two sides.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has acknowledged that, but he feels Liverpool’s achievements will mean a lot more to their supporters because they haven’t spent the kind of money that Manchester City have to build their squad.

He told FourFourTwo a few days ago: “Looking back on this era, although they’ve won more titles than us and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the situations at both clubs, financially.

“How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we’ve done it, probably means more to our fans.”

Rio Ferdinand was surprised to hear those comments yesterday. He reacted to it on TNT Sports by saying: “Shots fired! Wow!

“He’s lucky he’s at Anfield (this weekend).”

Liverpool vs Manchester City could decide the title race

The game on Sunday between Liverpool and Manchester City is massive, not just for the two sides but also for Arsenal.

If there is a winner between Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp this weekend, their side will instantly become the favourites to win the title.

If the game ends in a draw and both Liverpool and Manchester City drop points, Arsenal will go to the top of the Premier League table, provided they beat Brentford on Saturday.

A lot of the season is still left to be played, but what happens at Anfield this weekend could well determine who goes on to become the champions this season.
