John Terry has given his verdict on the controversial penalty that Liverpool forward Diogo Jota earned against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United in the second half of the Premier League match at Anfield.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has also given his take on Jota.
So, what has been said about Diogo Jota? Let’s take a look.
Liverpool forward Diogo Jota criticised vs Newcastle United
Well, Liverpool beat Newcastle United 4-2 at Anfield in the Premier League on Monday evening.
I believe that Liverpool were the better team and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.
After all, Jurgen Klopp’s side had 62% of the possession and had 34 shots of which 15 were on target.

Liverpool were awarded the penalty after it was adjudged that Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka had brought down Diogo Jota inside the area.
Although there was a touch, Jota took a while before going down. It did not look like a penalty, but it was awarded anyway.
As you can see, Chelsea legend John Terry was not impressed and said that the £41 million Portugal international forward (BBC Sport) dived.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has also slammed the 27-year-old former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward.
Liverpool march on in Premier League title race
The win against Newcastle United on Monday evening means that Liverpool are now three points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool were brilliant against Newcastle, and although Gary Neville still thinks that Arsenal will win the title, Jurgen Klopp’s side are certainly more than capable of getting the job done in the end.
However, it is not going to be easy for Liverpool. Manchester City are starting to get their act together, while Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are still winning matches.
