Liverpool might have drawn with Manchester City yesterday but Stephen Warnock felt there was still an element of sadness to the game.
Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola went head to head in a thrilling game at Anfield. In the end, a 1-1 score-line was about right and both managers accepted the result at the end.
Of course, it was the last time that Klopp will host his Man City counterpart in the Premier League. The pair have gone head to head for years and raised the level of the competition every time.
And speaking for NBC Sports after the game last night, former Reds defender Stephen Warnock admitted that seeing the game made him realise how much the league will miss the German.
Jurgen Klopp a big loss for the Premier League
Speaking alongside Robbie Mustoe for NBC, Warnock admitted that it made him feel a bit sad knowing Klopp was leaving.
“I think the only sad thing to come out of today’s game was what a loss Klopp is going to be to the Premier League. And that respect between the manager’s at the end of the game, the embrace. They knew they’d been in one of the best games and there was huge respect there for the style, how they hurt each other. But it’s almost like they’re stood there as two boxers, trading blows with each other,” Warnock said.

Whoever takes over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool is going to have one mammoth task on their hands.
But even the league in general, there is going to be a void to fill here and it’s one that’s probably not going to be filled.
Both Guardiola and Klopp have been simply brilliant for the English game. With Klopp going, it remains to be seen how long Guardiola will stick it out.
One thing is for sure, though, and that’s Klopp leaves Liverpool an absolute legend of the game. And that’s in the eyes of everyone, not just the Liverpool fans.
