The Dutch player and Dutch manager seem to be off to a good start together at Liverpool.
Although there were a few shouts for Man of the Match last week away to Ipswich Town, particular after the second half, Ryan Gravenberch was among may have just edged the rest with a truly standout performance in the center of the park.
Gravenberch had an up and down season last year under Klopp, which is to be expected for any young player, but it was clear just how much promise he had. It might be too early to tell, but the first indications are that he’s ready to raise his level again this season, and that new manager Arne Slot might be able to get the most out of his countryman.
“I had a little chat with [Slot] and he said I have to focus on the No.6 and No.8 positions,” Gravenberch told the official club website.
“Now I play at No.6. In the past I played it as well so I know what I have to do. I’ve enjoyed playing there.
“It’s a little bit of a different system than we played last season, but I think everyone has adapted to it. Now we have to build it further and further. I think at the end we can be a really dominant team.”
Hopefully Slot & Co. can continue to build on last week’s good result—and impressive second half performance—and win against Brentford for the season’s home debut.
