Minutes have been hard to come by for the youngster.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool FC have begun the process of recalling Fabio Carvalho from his loan at RB Leipzig, due to a lack of minutes.
The 21-year-old has made 13 appearances this season, but only one start in the Bundesliga and once in the Champions League. This came earlier this week on Wednesday night, in a rather meaningless game as Leipzig had secured qualification for the round of sixteen.
EXCL: Liverpool have opened talks with RB Leipzig to bring Fabio Carvalho back in January due to insufficient game time.
Carvalho could start in UCL tonight but he only played 257 total minutes so far — #LFC not happy with this loan.

Liverpool ECHO writer Paul Gorst notes that another loan move will be far more likely than Carvalho returning into the Reds’ setup midseason.
Liverpool are in dialogue with RB Leipzig to cut short Fabio Carvalho's loan deal. Jurgen Klopp is keen to get him some much-needed game-time, so another loan more likely than a return to the #LFC fold in January. https://t.co/vtrE4t1WUg
— Paul Gorst (@ptgorst) December 13, 2023That tracks as Carvalho made 21 appearances for the Reds in all competitions, mostly on the left wing and midfield, but clocked up just 638 minutes of game time last season. He seemed to be frozen out of the season after the turn of the new year, as Klopp struggled to coax intensity and a high press out of a pretty leggy team. The lack of his natural 10 position in our current setup definitely hurts Carvalho, although it’s worth noting that players like Szoboslai and Elliott would still be ahead of him if it did.
Whatever the outcome, let’s hope Fabio gets somewhere where he can play.
