Liverpool have the best defensive record in the Premier League right now, but there’s still a feeling that they could improve in the centre of defence.
Indeed, while Ibrahima Konate has been brilliant as of late, he’s been wildly inconsistent over the past 18 months, and Liverpool continue to be linked with new defenders.
The Reds may be able to upgrade on Konate, and according to Robbie Savage, there’s a player at Tottenham who’s better than the Frenchman.
Speaking on BBC 606, Robbie Savage has been comparing Liverpool and Tottenham’s starting XIs after rumours Ange Postecoglou could be headed to Anfield at the end of the season, and he named Micky Van de Ven as a player from Spurs who would get into the Liverpool team now.

Savage shared his verdict on the £35m man.
“Liverpool pound for pound have the better players in every position, possibly Son and Maddison get into that team,” One caller said.
“Van de Ven, Van de Ven and Van Dijk, it would be those two,” Savage said.
Scary
The idea of Van de Ven and Van Dijk playing in the same defence is truly scary, and the Netherlands national team are lucky enough to be able to call on both of these players at the moment.
Throw Sven Botman and Matthijs De Ligt into that mix, and you have arguably the best central defensive stable in world football right now.
The Netherlands struggled to produce quality defenders for so long – Johnny Heitinga actually started a World Cup final in 2010, but now, they have four centre-backs who are all arguably world-class at this moment in time.
Ironically, Van de Ven was actually a player Liverpool looked at this summer, but he slipped through their fingers, and we have to imagine that the Reds are regretting that now.
