Gabriel Agbonlahor has shared a story about referee Michael Oliver after his performance in the Liverpool vs Manchester United clash on Sunday.
Michael Oliver has received plenty of criticism following his decision to send Diogo Dalot off in Sunday’s goalless draw at Anfield.
The Manchester United full-back was convinced he’d won his side a throw-in late in stoppage time and replays have since shown he was correct. But the linesman and Oliver awarded Liverpool the decision as Jurgen Klopp’s men pushed for a late winner.
Dalot was understandably furious with the decision. The Portuguese defender made his feelings clear to Oliver as he threw his arms in the air and protested.
He was sent off for dissent just moments later but United managed to hold on to a crucial point.
But it’s fair to say that Gabriel Agbonlahor remains unimpressed with the decision to send Dalot off and has criticised Oliver on TalkSPORT.

The former Aston Villa striker labelled Oliver’s decision to dismiss Dalot ‘ridiculous’.
Agbonlahor then shared a story about Oliver and claimed the referee thinks he’s a ‘celebrity’.
“I think it was ridiculous,” he said. “It was definitely a yellow card, the way he threw his arms in the air, but why would he give two yellows?
“He did something similar to Martinelli against Wolves. I feel like some of these referees love it. They love themselves.
“I saw Michael Oliver at a Euros game, England in the Euros at Wembley, and I actually saw him taking pictures with fans, so nothing surprises me. He’s a celebrity, like the good old Mike Dean.
“He must think he is [a celeb] taking pictures. So that doesn’t surprise me about ‘oh how can I make a statement’.
“Just pull the captain over and say he’s on his last warning, that’s two dissents, stop your player because I could have sent him off here.
“It’s never been a sending-off. It just didn’t need it. What was it, the 89th minute? It’s a passionate game, it’s a derby, they are fighting, he probably thought it was his throw-in. These referees, don’t get me started.”

While Dalot was rightfully booked for initial dissent, it felt incredibly harsh to hand him a second yellow just seconds later.
Of course, it remains unclear exactly what Dalot said to the referee. But with plenty riding on such a fierce game, Dalot was understandably frustrated with the decision at the time.
