Manchester City have held talks with Jude Bellingham and are now confident of beating Liverpool to sign him.
The Daily Mail report that initial discussions have taken place between the reigning champions and the England international.
And insiders now believe that City are the most likely team to win the race for the midfielder, which could well be the hottest contest of the summer.
City signed Erling Haaland from Dortmund last summer and the report says they have a strong relationship with the German outfit.

City can offer a huge amount to Bellingham and have enticed top English talent such as Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips in recent seasons.
They are always in the mix for trophies, playing superb football and of course have the financial clout to match any rival club’s bid.
They obviously won the chase for Haaland last summer, when the Norway international was the most sought after player on the market.
Liverpool are now up for sale, and FSG probably know they cannot realistically compete regularly with the money City can spend.
Jurgen Klopp made that point recently but it will be interesting to see what the new ownership regime is and how long a takeover takes to complete.
That could all impact the Bellingham situation, and the midfielder could well be a World Cup winner by the time the transfer market next opens…
