The Netherlands international spoke to his compatriot Van de Ven and tried to convince him to move to Liverpool from VfL Wolfsburg. However, according to TEAMtalk, “Spurs moved faster” and “closed the deal”.

There has also been a report claiming that the 22-year-old, described as “absolutely exceptional” by former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, did not want to move to Liverpool because he thought that he could become a regular at Tottenham.

In my opinion, Micky van de Ven has been superb for Tottenham Hotspur so far this season and has been one of the best players in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water and has made himself a key figure in the team already.

The defender has impressed Peter Crouch among other pundits.

When everyone is fit and available, Van de Ven starts alongside Cristian Romero in defence.

However, the Netherlands international is injured at the moment and is going to spend a considerable period of time on the sidelines.
