Foot Mercato reports that Tottenham Hotspur have now stepped up their attempts to sign World Cup star Sofyan Amrabat – a player who Jurgen Klopp really wants at Liverpool.
Antonio Conte looks set to go head-to-head with Liverpool for Amrabat in the January transfer window.
The Italian has already bolstered his midfield with the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma, but Spurs were linked with a move for Amrabat back in January.
The 26-year-old has been a solid performer in Serie A for Fiorentina but he really stepped up his game during the World Cup. Amrabat was a standout performer for Morocco in Qatar and helped the north African side reach their first ever semi-final.
His performances have caught the attention of Liverpool and now it seems Klopp’s men will be competing with Spurs for his signature.

Foot Mercato reports that Klopp has made Amrabat his ‘priority’ ahead of the January transfer window, alongside Jude Bellingham.
Liverpool are planning talks with the Moroccan star’s agent now that the World Cup is over as they aim to secure a move next month.
But the outlet notes that Spurs are also ‘advancing’ with their attempts to snap up Amrabat as Conte has wanted him for several years.
Amrabat wants to experience the Premier League and has a preference for Liverpool, but Foot Mercato states that nothing is decided just yet. Fiorentina are also trying to extend his stay in Italy but are not ruling out a January sale.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed this week that the £40 million-rated midfielder is being pushed towards Anfield by his agents. But Spurs haven’t been ruled out of the race just yet.

Amrabat has been brilliant over the past month for Morocco but he’s very similar to the profile of midfielders Conte already has at Spurs.
Liverpool seem to be more in need of a midfielder like the Fiorentina star right now and he seemingly has a preference to join Klopp’s side.
Tottenham are in desperate need of a creative player in the middle of the park and on our view, they should be looking at the likes of Alexis Mac Allister or James Maddison.
