Report: Tottenham now eyeing move for ‘outstanding’ £52m centre-back who Jurgen Klopp wants at Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a move for Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio – a player who Jurgen Klopp wants at Liverpool.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, with the outlet claiming Tottenham have held a meeting to discuss defensive targets this week.

Spurs are expected to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s options at centre-back in January following the recent injury to Micky van de Ven.

The Aussie boss was forced to name a makeshift duo of Eric Dier and Ben Davies in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves last time out, with Cristian Romero also suspended.

Tottenham have been linked with a host of names at centre-back ahead of the January window, including the likes of Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

But Spurs have several options for the position and it seems they are considering a move for Liverpool target Goncalo Inacio.

The Mail reports that Spurs are eyeing a number of centre-back targets ahead of the January window.

Marc Guehi and Branthwaite are on their radar, as well as Sporting defender Inacio.

Inacio has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield over the past few months, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen on signing the Portugal star.

The 22-year-old has starred for Sporting over the past couple of seasons and has earned four caps for Portugal, netting twice.

The centre-back has a £52 million release clause in his contract with Sporting and has been labelled an ‘outstanding’ player.

It’s no surprise to see Inacio attracting interest from the Premier League after some exceptional displays for Sporting of late.

As a left-footed centre-back, Inacio will be in demand over the coming transfer windows.

Yet, it would be a surprise to see Tottenham move for the defender anytime soon as he would be expected to come in and start.

Spurs already have a brilliant duo in Romero and Van de Ven and look more likely to target a player who can cover for them.
