229 Liverpool are now in talks with Ibrahima Konate and his representatives over a bumper new contract at Anfield.
This is according to Le10 Sport, who claim that the 24-year-old Reds defender and his agent have just started negotiations for an extension.
The report states that there’s no ’emergency’ involving Konate‘s contract, since his current Liverpool deal runs until 2026.
Nevertheless, the ‘discussions have started’ so the Reds and the player’s camp can potentially agree a deal by the end of the season.
The reports claims Liverpool would get the chance to ‘reward’ Konate alongside protecting their player against any future interest from other clubs.
Le10 Sport also recalled recent interest in the Reds powerhouse from Paris Saint-Germain.
The outlet included quotes from the player in which he kept the door open on a potential future move.
As per Canal+, he was asked if he had ever envisaged himself wearing a PSG shirt.
He replied: “If I said no, I’d be lying, but if you’re asking, is it one of my objectives? Not at all.”
As a result, Liverpool would like Konate well protected with a new deal. The report doesn’t specify how long his new contract will be.
The France international joined the Reds for £36million – his release clause at RB Leipzig – in the summer of 2021.

It’s good to hear that Liverpool and Konate’s camp are now reportedly in talks over a new contract.
The 24-year-old has been solid for the Reds when called upon and he certainly deserves a new deal.
It’s no surprise that the likes of PSG have seemingly been casting their eyes on the ‘incredible‘ talent.
Hopefully Liverpool and Konate’s camp can get a new deal over the line and the Reds secure the services of a world-class defender for the long-term.
