156 Liverpool could get the opportunity to sell another of their players to Steven Gerrard in the Saudi Pro League this coming summer, with Al Ettifaq eyeing another Reds star.
Of course, Liverpool were involved in one of the most surprising deals of the previous summer window, with Jordan Henderson leaving Anfield after 12 years to sign for his former skipper in the Kingdom.
Jordan Henderson could be looking for a way out of the Saudi Pro League just a few months after the move. But Al Ettifaq are still intending to try and sign further Liverpool players.
Al Ettifaq now interested in Joe Gomez
And according to talkSPORT, one of the club’s targets for the next summer window is Joe Gomez. They also have their eye on Joel Matip, according to the report.
It has been some time since Gomez was a first-choice for Jurgen Klopp. That has largely been down to injuries. And it has actually probably not helped that the 26-year-old is so versatile.
Gomez has come back into the team at left-back following the injuries to Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas. And he may perhaps have a role to play now that Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to be sidelined for the next few weeks.
Gomez’s next appearance for Liverpool will bring up his double century for the club in all competitions. But it is probably fair to say that the long-term injuries he did suffer did put a massive dent in his chances of realising his full potential alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool star may leave this summer, but will surely move elsewhere
It would be a big surprise if Gomez wanted to leave for Saudi Arabia in the summer, particularly with Henderson seemingly keen to swiftly return.
Gomez is wanted by Tottenham. And there will surely be plenty of other sides showing interest if it becomes apparent that he could leave Liverpool.
Gomez may feel that the time is right to move on from Merseyside. But it may take a staggering offer to tempt him to move to Saudi Arabia.
