187 Xabi Alonso may be having some doubts about the Liverpool job.
Alonso’s name was always going to be touted for Liverpool whenever Jurgen Klopp left the club.
Few expected that to be this summer though as Klopp made the stunning announcement that he would be leaving at the end of the season.
Alonso was the first name in the minds of many fans – and not just because he was an Anfield favourite in his playing days.
The Spaniard is working wonders at Bayer Leverkusen as they now sit eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table.
Alonso is thought to be a prime target for Liverpool but the Leverkusen boss may be having doubts…

TEAMtalk now claim that Alonso is concerned about the prospect of replacing Klopp.
The German has not only brought silverware to Anfield but also struck up an incredible rapport with the Liverpool fanbase.
Even with Alonso’s ties to Liverpool from his playing career, he seemingly fears that following on from Klopp is too difficult of a task.
Alonso also allegedly fears that he doesn’t have the necessary experience to take over at Liverpool right now.
The report claims that there is a sense of ‘right job, wrong time’ for Alonso, which means he may avoid a move to Anfield right now.
Alonso has been Leverkusen boss for less than 18 months and, whilst he may win the Bundesliga title, the expectation levels at Liverpool are enormous.
Alonso may want a little more experience in Germany, just as managing in the Champions League, before heading back to Liverpool.
That could leave Liverpool to look at other options with Sporting boss Ruben Amorim named as the top candidate.
Reports add that Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann is on the Liverpool wish list too, with the Reds seemingly eyeing other options just in case Alonso can’t be convinced.
