Newcastle United now want to sign winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ahead of a host of clubs including Liverpool.
It had been reported last month that Liverpool were leading the race to sign the winger from Napoli.
He joined them for £10 million in the summer but is thought to be valued at £50 million if he is to move on from the Serie A outfit.
That is according to a report by the Times, who claim that Newcastle have now shunted him up their list of transfer priorities.

They claim that the Magpies have been scouting the winger extensively and have now moved onto checks on his character.
Newcastle have been linked with a wide forward since the summer and James Maddison is another name who has been extensively mentioned in that area of the pitch.
Napoli want to tie him down to a new contract and the report also says that Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are keen on the 21-year-old.
Last month, BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves said of the forwasrd: “The guy is breathtaking to watch, he’s only 21 years old, only cost 10 million euros, but plays on the left wing, (he’s) two-footed, he’s got goals and assists galore.
“Everyone that he plays against he pretty much terrorises, he’s quick, technically he’s good, he can use both feet, he’s a good finisher.
“It’s remarkable really that he’s playing at this level at this age, he looks like a regular Champions League player already.”
