Report: Manchester City now want to sign Michael Edwards' number one Liverpool target more than anything

Liverpool fans will be excited about what the summer could bring after FSG brought back Michael Edwards.

Edwards has a fine record when it comes to new signings and with Jurgen Klopp leaving, Liverpool are expected to be busy in the summer months.

For Liverpool, only players of the highest calibre will do.

With a squad already full of brilliant talents, Liverpool and Edwards know that only the very best players can come in and have an impact on the first XI right now.

Of course, those players cost a lot of money and quite whether Liverpool are willing to spend huge sums, remains to be seen.

Regardless of if the Reds do spend or not, it looks like old rivals Manchester City could once again be a sticking point when it comes to Bayern Munich midfielder, Jamal Musiala.

Musiala is believed to be high on Edwards’ list of signings but according to reports, Manchester City are also going to go hard for the youngster.

Manchester City to rival Liverpool for Jamal Musiala

According to the Independent’s latest newsletter from Miguel Delaney, Musiala has big admirers at City and he is the player they’d want to sign above anyone else this summer.

Musiala has emerged as a major star for Germany and Bayern and any sort of deal to bring him in would need huge money.

Indeed, a fee of around £96m has been mentioned for those clubs looking to take Musiala off Bayern’s hands.

Quite whether Liverpool or City would shell out such a fee, remains to be seen.

With so much made of FFP and PSR this season, every club is being as careful as they can be when it comes to making new signings.

Musiala a game changing signing

There are a number of young players in world football right now who would arguably walk into any XI in the world.

We see the likes of Jude Bellingham, Pedri and more making waves in the game and most clubs would take those players.

Jamal Musiala is another one of those players. He is simply that good.

There is a reason why Bayern value him so highly and a reason why both Liverpool and Manchester City are so keen on signing him.

Whoever – if anyone – signs Musiala, then they really are getting a major talent.
