Liverpool have been linked with Santos attacking talent Marcos Leonardo in recent weeks.
In June, Brazilian presenter Milton Neves – via Sport Witness – claimed the 19-year-old was on his way to Anfield.
There weren’t any further updates for a while, but now, Bolavip – also via Sport Witness – has provided an update.
Photo by Ricardo Moreira/Getty ImagesThe Brazilian outlet claims the ‘tendency’ is that Liverpool will prepare an official offer to sign Leonardo ‘very soon’.
Apparently, the Reds like his ‘style’, which is why they’re focusing on him instead of Palmeiras gem Endrick.
Leonardo is a top talent who has thoroughly impressed at Santos since making his first-team breakthrough in 2020.
He has already clocked up over a century of competitive appearances for his club, despite still being a teenager.
And this season, Leonardo has an impressive 15 goals and 5 assists from 39 matches in all competitions.
Chances are, if the report is true and Liverpool were to sign him, he’d be one for the future.
Nonetheless, the Reds academy has a good pathway to the first team.
And over the years, Jurgen Klopp has shown he’s not afraid to give youngsters senior game time.
“One of the main championships in the world”
Better still, Leonardo has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League someday.
“I want to play in the Premier League one day,” the ‘next Neymar’ told The Mirror in June.
“I watch a lot of games, and it is one of the main championships in the world.
“Not only for the competition among the teams, but also for the whole league.
“The proof is that English clubs always arrive in finals like the Champions League.”
