Liverpool now want to sign Chris Rigg from Sunderland – a special talent who has been breaking records in the Championship.
That is according to the Sunderland Echo.
So, what is the situation involving Liverpool and Chris Rigg? Let’s take a look…
Liverpool want Chris Rigg
Well, the 16-year-old has caught the eye of some of England’s elite clubs.
The Sunderland Echo believe Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are also keen to sign Rigg along with Liverpool after he rose to prominence at Sunderland.
Bayern Munich – and interestingly, Birmingham City – are interested as well, according to the report.
Remarkably, the England U17 international has already made seven appearances in the Championship for Sunderland, and has two goals to his name in 11 senior outings for the Black Cats.
Rigg has already broken a number of records with Sunderland.

Rigg also became Sunderland’s youngest ever goalscorer at the age of 16 years and 51 days when he scored against Crewe Alexandra back in August 2023.
Who is Chris Rigg?
Liverpool have previous when it comes to signing bright prospects from Sunderland.
The Reds parted with £20m back in June 2011 to bring Jordan Henderson from Wearside to Merseyside, and Rigg has incidentally been compared to the England international.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Liverpool must fend off some of Europe’s elite clubs to secure Rigg’s signature this summer – the deal will surely be even harder to pull off as Jürgen Klopp prepares to leave Anfield.
