Liverpool are now on alert after Federico Chiesa was whistled and heckled by Juventus fans.

That is according to Calciomercato.

So, what is the latest on Liverpool and Federico Chiesa? Let’s take a look…

Liverpool alert to Federico Chiesa situation

Well – according to Calciomercato – Kenan Yildiz is starting to become a fan favourite at Juventus, and supporters are beginning to turn on Chiesa as a result of that and other developments.

The Italy international is yet to sign a new contract – with his current terms expiring in July 2025 – and is now struggling out on the pitch, causing his reputation amongst the fanbase to plummet.

Calciomercato state that Chiesa was whistled by supporters after being taken off in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Frosinone, with Liverpool keeping a close eye on his situation.

The Italian – who has been compared to Luis Suarez – would appear to be a long term target for the Reds.

A story from Tutto Mercato Web from back in 2019 claimed that Liverpool even wanted to buy Chiesa during his days at Fiorentina, before Juventus eventually signed him for £54m in October 2020.

The Juventus No.7 has scored six goals in 21 Serie A appearances so far this season – while also providing two assists.

Liverpool have a decision to make

When you consider the fact Liverpool already have Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and young talents such as Ben Doak in the attacking department, you might question why another forward is on the radar.

However, the Reds just cannot seem to keep everybody fit, which has led to Jurgen Klopp relying on teenagers with little experience at key moments this season – namely Sunday’s Carabao Cup win over Chelsea.

It was a lovely moment to see so many academy products shine on a stage as big as Wembley, but if Liverpool are going to kick on next season under a new manager – potentially Xabi Alonso – senior depth is key.

Having said that, Chiesa may cause Liverpool’s attack to become too bloated if everybody ends up staying fit next season – so his potential arrival represents a gamble.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen this summer.
