Report: Liverpool now losing patience with £50m first-teamer, amid reports he could be sold this summer

7 months ago 101

Liverpool are growing increasingly frustrated with one of their first-team stars as rumours continue to gather pace over Arne Slot joining.

The Reds look like they’re now moving fast to bring in Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp after initially going for both Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim.

For Slot, it’s a huge opportunity and one he’s confirmed is being discussed this week.

However, quite what squad Slot will have to work with, remains to be seen.

After signing new players last summer, the new manager is going to want some of his own players brought in as well. Likewise, some could move on, with Jurgen Klopp a big reason for a number of Reds stars remaining at Anfield.

Klopp’s exit has already seen the likes of Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz linked with moves away.

And according to a report from Spain, Liverpool are growing increasingly frustrated with one of those players.

Liverpool running out of patience with Luis Diaz amid Barcelona links

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are looking at a number of wingers this summer.

Among them, Liverpool’s Diaz gets a mention again and this time, it’s claimed that the Reds are getting increasingly frustrated at the performance levels of the Colombian.

£50m signing Diaz has been a key player all season but for Reds but in recent weeks has dipped off.

Of course, he is not alone as the likes of Salah and Nunez have also seen the goals dry up as Liverpool’s title push comes to an end.

Going into the summer, then, it seems like Liverpool might well be tempted to cash in on some stars.

How Luis Diaz has done for Liverpool this season

Given the attacking football Liverpool play and the chances they create, you can make an easy argument to suggest Luis Diaz should do more.

He’s played 47 times this season in all competitions but managed just 13 goals and four assists.

For a player who gets so much of the ball in one of Europe’s top teams, those stats are hardly worth shouting home about.

Compare that to Mo Salah, who many claim is below his best, yet he’s still managed 24 goals and 13 assists across the season.

Diaz, then, simply has to do more if Liverpool are to keep him as one of their main men. At the very top, the small details matter and much like Darwin Nunez, Diaz has come up short too often this season.
