Liverpool remain interested in signing Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill, despite the defender penning a new long-term deal over the summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were in the market for a centre-back last summer and Levi Colwill was among their top targets.
Indeed, it was claimed that Liverpool believed they could sign Colwill before the defender ultimately extended his stay at Stamford Bridge.
The Reds are yet to bolster their options at centre-back after focusing on a midfield revamp over the summer.
And despite the fact that Colwill has been a key player at Chelsea this term, talkSPORT claims Liverpool are still interested in signing the 20-year-old.

TalkSPORT reports that Liverpool retain an interest in signing Colwill after attempting to land him over the summer.
Despite signing a new deal, Chelsea could be forced to sell some of their academy stars due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Of course, there have also been suggestions they would consider offers for Conor Gallagher, who has been another key man this season.
It’s noted that Colwill was open to a move away from Stamford Bridge over the summer before Mauricio Pochettino guaranteed him an important role in the side.
Colwill has played most of his football at left-back this season after starring in central defence for Brighton last term.
The Englishman has received plaudits for his performances in England’s top flight so far and has been lauded as an ‘amazing’ talent.
Indeed, Rio Ferdinand sang his praises back in October, claiming the youngster has ‘everything’ to become a top defender.

“I see him at Brighton, composure, asked to play a different way, adapted straight away. As long as he stays on it, his mindset stays strong, works at his game still, I think he’s got a huge opportunity.”
You’d imagine it would take a huge fee for Liverpool to tempt Chelsea into selling Colwill.
And while he would arguably be worth it in the long term for the Reds, there may be more affordable options on the market.
Nevertheless, should the Blues indicate any willingness to offload Colwill, Liverpool will undoubtedly be one of many clubs interested in doing a deal for the defender.
Klopp is lacking real quality depth at centre-back and could do with at least one more player in the position. Colwill’s ability to play left-back would also be a huge asset to this Liverpool side.
