Liverpool have started to explore whether Roberto De Zerbi would be willing to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer.
That is according to the Guardian.
So, what is the situation involving Liverpool and Roberto De Zerbi? Let’s take a look…
Liverpool exploring Roberto De Zerbi appointment
Well – according to the Guardian – Liverpool have already made an informal check to see whether the Italian would be interested in the upcoming vacancy at Anfield.
It is said that Xabi Alonso remains the No.1 choice to replace Klopp – Liverpool have even offered the Spaniard a contract, according to TEAMtalk.
However – with Bayern Munich also keen on Alonso – the Reds are preparing backup options, and a tentative enquiry has now been made for De Zerbi.

De Zerbi guided the Seagulls into the UEFA Europa League with a sixth place finish last season, and has steered Brighton to a Round of 16 clash against Roma this term, while also keeping his side seventh in the Premier League.
The Guardian add that Ruben Amorim of Sporting CP and Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann are also on Liverpool’s shortlist.
Jurgen Klopp admires Roberto De Zerbi
If Liverpool did end up hiring De Zerbi, the move would seemingly come with Klopp’s approval.
The German has previously hailed the Italian for his efforts at Brighton.

“Graham (Potter) did a lot of good stuff and that is a really smart move from Potter to De Zerbi and they made really big steps: super consistent, different formations, different players, lineups and you always see Brighton football and I couldn’t respect that more.”
Now, the man from Brescia could replace Klopp – if Fenway Sports Group (FSG) fail to hire Alonso.
