Report: Liverpool have rejected approach from Rangers to sign their 21-year-old talent

Liverpool have reportedly rejected an approach from Rangers for Owen Beck, with the 21-year-old defender only just being recalled from loan.

The fullback was previously with Dundee FC, where Beck had caught the eye in the Scottish top-flight, though injuries to Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson have seen the youngster return to Merseyside.

A Wales U-21 international, Beck’s development has blossomed this season up north in Scotland, and the defender’s performances have now caught the eye of one of the country’s biggest clubs.

According to the Daily Mail, Rangers have made an approach to sign the 21-year-old fullback, with the Glasgow giants clearly impressed with what they saw from Beck at Dundee.

However, as per the report, Rangers’ approach has been turned down by Liverpool, who seemingly could now have plans to use the defender in upcoming fixtures.

Indeed, Beck has shown this season that he has the potential to become an exciting left-back in the Premier League, and Liverpool rejecting an approach from Rangers is a major sign of trust in the youngster.

Given the strong competition Beck will face for the left-back position when Liverpool’s injured players return, there’s every chance that a summer move could be on the cards for the defender.

And Rangers could be a dream destination for Beck, especially if Philippe Clement’s side can reclaim the Scottish title and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Beck has clearly left a mark in the Scottish game even after spending just a few months with Dundee, where the Liverpool youngster made 20 appearances.

And if Beck can’t make the cut under Jurgen Klopp, a move back to Scotland with Rangers could be an incredibly appealing more for the youngster later this year.
