Liverpool are looking at other options to become their new manager after Xabi Alonso’s decision, and a new name has been added to their shortlist.
The Reds have been on the hunt for a new manager since Jurgen Klopp announced that he will be walking away at the end of this season.
Alonso was the man almost every Liverpool fan wanted as the German’s successor. Many people felt he would be perfect for Liverpool. However, the Spaniard has confirmed that he will be staying at Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool have to look elsewhere now, and they have an interesting name on their list.

Michael Edwards returned to Liverpool not too long ago, and he has brought Richard Hughes with him as the club’s new sporting director.
The two of them have been tasked with the massive job of finding Jurgen Klopp’s successor.
Xabi Alonso is out of the equation now, and Roberto De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim have been heavily linked with the Liverpool job since.
However, there’s another name on the list now.
Diario de Noticias claim that along with the above-mentioned names, Liverpool have added Aston Villa boss Unai Emery to their list of targets.
The 52-year-old Spaniard doesn’t rank as highly as the likes of Amorim and De Zerbi, but he is being considered nonetheless if moves for those two fail to materialise.
Emery has been at Aston Villa since November 2022, and he has done a tremendous job. He led the Villans to a seventh-place finish last season and they are now challenging for a place in the Champions League next term.
The three other manager on Liverpool’s shortlist
You already know about Roberto De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim, and they are both concrete targets. Liverpool, however, have a few more names they are looking at.
The report claims that along with the above-mentioned two and Unai Emery, Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann is also on Liverpool’s shortlist.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has also made it, as has Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi, whom Thierry Henry raved about recently.
All of these managers are below De Zerbi and Amorim on the list, but they are still there and could well become more serious options if Liverpool can’t get the two frontrunners.
