There’s yet another twist in the tale in Liverpool’s pursuit of a new manager.
The Reds have been on the lookout for a new boss since Jurgen Klopp announced in January that he would be leaving the club at the end of this season.
Liverpool have been linked with about a dozen managers since, but their top target, Xabi Alonso, decided against moving to Anfield.
The man who was next in line, Ruben Amorim, now appears to be an unlikely candidate as well, and that has thrown a spanner in the works.
If Liverpool can’t get Amorim this summer, they will have to look elsewhere, and a report has now claimed that they are prepared to intensify their pursuit of a Premier League manager.
Klopp is a big fan of him too.

The Liverpool job is both, the most attractive and the most difficult one to take this summer.
Jurgen Klopp is a legend of the game and the German’s departure will leave a massive void at Anfield that will be extremely difficult to fill.
We’ve seen with Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and Manchester United respectively just how difficult it is for the immediate successor.
That’s probably why Xabi Alonso decided against moving to Liverpool, and if Ruben Amorim snubs them, the same could be a factor as well.
Liverpool have an eye on another manager now in case they can’t get Amorim, and TeamTalk reveal that Brentford boss Thomas Frank is that man.
The report claims that the Reds’ board really admire the Dane and ‘they are set to intensify their pursuit of him if they do miss out on Amorim’ this summer.
Frank is said to be happy at Brentford, but it is believed that he will find it difficult to turn down a job as big as the Liverpool one if it is offered to him.
If the Reds do go after Frank, they will have to pay a ‘significant compensation fee’ to Brentford as the 50-year-old is under contract there until the summer of 2027.
Jurgen Klopp’s claim about Thomas Frank’s teams should excite Liverpool fans
Thomas Frank might not be as exciting a name as Xabi Alonso or Ruben Amorim, but he is a good manager.
The 50-year-old has done a terrific job at Brentford over the years, and he has been linked with big clubs like Tottenham and Manchester United in the past.
Liverpool’s interest is no surprise, especially as an alternative to Amorim if he snubs them, and Jurgen Klopp has already explained how ‘horrible’ it is to face teams managed by Frank.
After the Reds beat Brentford 3-0 earlier this season, Klopp said: “Top performance, top result, super difficult opponent. Whatever happens on the pitch, they will have a set-piece and if they have one, how horrible is that? And then outside of set-pieces, they have really good ideas.
“The chances they had in the first half, I can’t remember who played the pass for Mbeumo, but the whole situation, oh my god, these things could have happened much more often.
“These moments, horrible. Couldn’t respect it any more, but they’re horrible. But to put a performance like that on the pitch is really special.”
