Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are determined to sign Teun Koopmeiners in the January transfer window.
That is according to TuttoAtalanta, which has reported how much Liverpool are willing to pay for the Atalanta defensive midfielder in the January transfer window.
So, what has been reported about Liverpool and Teun Koopmeiners? Let’s take a look.
Liverpool ready to bid for Teun Koopmeiners
Well, according to TuttoAtalanta, Liverpool are interested in signing Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta in the January transfer window.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Koopmeiners is “a primary target” for Liverpool.
Photo by Emilio Andreoli/Getty ImagesThe former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners think that the defensive midfielder is “perfect” to strengthen their midfield and are preparing to make a bid for him in the coming days.
Liverpool are ready to pay as much as €45 million (£39 million) for the 25-year-old Netherlands international, described as “extraordinary” by Atalanta hero Domenico Progna.
Newcastle United have been linked with Koopmeiners, who is on the radar of Arsenal as well.
Koopmeiners has been on the books of Atalanta since 2021. The Netherlands international has scored five goals and given three assists in 18 starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A this season and has provided one assist in five UEFA Europa League matches.
The 25-year-old has been used as an attacking centre midfielder on many occasions this season.
My View: Liverpool do not need to sign Teun Koopmeiners
In my opinion, Liverpool do not need to sign Teun Koopmeiners in the January transfer window, especially for £39 million. I believe that manager Jurgen Klopp has enough midfield players in his squad.
Liverpool signed as many as four midfielders in the summer of 2023. Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all made the switch to Anfield.
Thiago Alcantara is still at Liverpool, although the Spaniard has had injury problems and could even leave in January.
And, let us not forget Curtis Jones, who has come through the Liverpool academy and has established himself in the first-team squad.
