The Frenchman, still only 25, has achieved so much already. He has won almost everything at PSG and has even led his country to World Cup glory.
Now, Mbappe has decided to take the next step in his career, and as unlikely as it has always been, Liverpool were heavily linked with a move to sign him.
There were claims that the Reds have been privately discussing the prospect of signing Mbappe, while French journalist Julien Laurens revealed that the Frenchman ‘really, really likes’ Liverpool.
That led to a fair bit of excitement, but there’s bad news for Liverpool fans.
Le Parisien have just reported that Mbappe has picked Real Madrid as his next club and will join the Galacticos in the summer.
Real Madrid were always the likeliest destination
Rumours about Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid have been floating around for years now.
It seemed almost certain that the Frenchman would move to the Santiago Bernabeu in May 2022, but he changed his mind and signed a new deal in Paris.
Now, as he nears the end of his contract, the report claims Mbappe is determined to sign for Real Madrid and that nothing will change his mind.
The dream was fun while it lasted for Liverpool fans, but their chances of signing Mbappe died as soon as Jurgen Klopp announced he was leaving.
