Report: How much Feyenoord are now hoping to get from Liverpool for Arne Slot after rejecting initial offer

Liverpool seem to be making good progress in pursuit of a manager who will take the reins after Jurgen Klopp steps down at the end of the season.

Over the past few days, the Reds have been in talks with Feyenoord over Arne Slot.

Speculation began doing the rounds, but soon enough, Slot himself confirmed he wanted the job and that talks were under way.

On Friday, the Liverpool Echo relayed comments the 45-year-old made about the Anfield role, and also mentioned how much the Reds may have to pay to bring him to Merseyside.

Speaking after Thursday’s 3-1 win at Go Ahead Eagles, Slot said he believed his exit will bank Feyenoord a record sum for a coaching departure in the Netherlands.

“I have the impression that a good offer has already been made,” Slot said. “And it seems that Feyenoord is already going to make the highest-paid Dutch transfer fee for a coach.

“And somewhere I still have the idea that I have performed so well in recent years, earning [the club] so much that Feyenoord is thinking along those lines.

“I don’t think ‘wish’ is the right word when you know the amounts involved. Wishing is when you have a clause in your contract and that’s the maximum they are willing to pay.

“Then you can talk about wishing, now it’s just hard bargaining, which is everyone’s right. But I absolutely believe they will reach an agreement.”

How much could Liverpool expect to pay Feyenoord for Arne Slot?

The Liverpool Echo reported how it’s believed that the Eredivisie club turned down an initial offer of around £7.7million this week and are holding out for somewhere closer to the £10-£12million mark.

Things certainly seem to be on the right track regarding Slot coming to Liverpool, and if all goes well, he should be Klopp’s successor at Anfield.

Let’s see in the coming days whether the two clubs can settle on a fee, and hopefully it won’t be long before a ‘here we go’ or even an official announcement.
