476 Ajax winger Antony has cropped up once again today, with Sky Sports claiming a move away from the Dutch club is off the agenda completely, unless he decides to change tact.
As reported on TBR previously, Ajax are believed to have whacked a hefty £83m price tag on Antony, in the hope of warding off the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham. All three PL clubs have an interest in the Brazilian, who has been outstanding over in Holland.

However, while an expensive move by those three clubs for Antony would surprise people at this stage of the window, Sky Sports has reported how that might change if the Brazilian star handed in a transfer request. It’s claimed that as things stand, a move to United in particular is completely ‘off the agenda’. But should Antony ask to leave Ajax, then things could change significantly.
The ‘fantastic‘ Antony is highly-regarded by Erik ten Hag. The new United manager has already landed Lisandro Martinez from his former club, too. But should the door open for him to leave, both Liverpool and Spurs will be in the mix having declared their own interest.
Ajax, of course, will simply hope to trigger a bidding war, should the winger decide he wants out.
TBR’s View: Antony One For Next Summer Now
He might hand in that request at some point but surely, right now, Antony is one to be looked at for next summer rather than right now.
There is just no way that United, Spurs, or Liverpool will be stumping up more than £80m right now. Well, United might do, but Spurs and the Reds aren’t that desperate for now.
Antony is a fine player and it would be great to see him in England. But his path to the PL looks rocky, and it will take plenty of pieces falling into place to happen.
