Liverpool could be involved in a major midfield transfer without actually signing anyone, if Juventus get their way with their latest plan.
A report from Calciomercato has claimed that Juventus are looking into the possibility of reshaping their midfield a bit.
Part of that overhaul has seen the Turin giants develop an interest in Mason Mount of Chelsea. Of course, Mount is said to be on the radar of Liverpool as well. The Reds are said to be admirers of Mount, with the midfielder apparently demanding wages close to £300k-a-week to sign fresh terms with the Blues.
However, Juventus could have a plan to scupper Liverpool’s hopes of signing Mount. And it involves yet another player the Reds have been linked with.
Photo by Visionhaus/Getty ImagesCalciomercato claims that Juve are willing to offer up or let go of Adrien Rabiot if it boosts their chances of landing Mount from Chelsea. As we know, Rabiot is another who has been linked with Liverpool, with reports last week suggesting he might even be available for as little as £10m.
Of course, this sort of deal puts Liverpool in a tricky position. In the end, they might end up with no new midfielder, despite having interest in the two here and others.
TBR’s View: Mount above Rabiot for Liverpool
This would be a no contest for Liverpool fans, surely? Given the choice of signing Rabiot or Mount, they’d surely take the Chelsea man over the Frenchman.
Sure, Rabiot is in line to reach a World Cup final and has had a fine tournament in his own right. But he’s had disappointments as well in his career. Mount, on the other hand, is a proven PL player.
Realistically, however, this from Juve doesn’t happen. And in fact, Chelsea letting Mount go to Liverpool also seems unlikely.
But, if it did come to it, then Mount is the man for Liverpool here over Rabiot.
