111 Arsenal are now said to be interested in a young centre-back who has already admitted he wanted to emulate a Liverpool player.
Whilst Mikel Arteta’s first team have been making excellent progress in recent years, it’s always been a slight concern that the path from the Hale End academy has eroded.
The likes of Charlie Patino and Brooke Norton-Cuffy were once considered gems of the academy, but it now seems as if their respective loan spells in the Championship will do little to alter their position back at Arsenal.
Perhaps the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Amario Cozier-Duberry will look to change that course, but it has become tough.
That being said, it seems as if the North London club will also now begin to try and sign some of Europe’s top young talent to try and help the situation, akin to Manchester City and Chelsea.
And with that in mind, The Athletic are now reporting that Arsenal are interested in signing 15-year-old Aberdeen defender Lewis Carrol.
Carrol, who turns 16 next month, is said to have a similar style to John Stones given his height and ability to play out from the back.

Carrol has long been regarded as a special talent in Scotland, and the defender has previously admitted that he wants to mimic the path that Calvin Ramsay has taken at Liverpool.
Ramsey, who is currently on loan at Bolton Wanderers in League One, signed for Liverpool from Aberdeen in 2022.
Considered an ‘exceptional’ talent himself, it’s understandable why Carrol would want to follow in his footsteps.
And similarly, given all of his commendation, it’s quite clear why Arsenal are said to be interested in the young centre-back.
Although, per the information in the report, Arsenal could face stiff competition from Chelsea, who have been following Carrol for some time.
It’ll certainly be an interesting one to follow in the summer, a player who seems to have a ton of potential.
That being said, it seems as if Mikel Arteta could also be lining up a big summer move for a player he absolutely loves.
