Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in signing Martin Zubimendi this summer, and the Gunners have already started working on the deal.
The Gunners are on top of the Premier League table right now, while Liverpool are second. Arsenal are desperate to beat the Reds – not just in the title race but also to Zubimendi’s signature.

Martin Zubimendi has been on Arsenal’s radar for about a year now.
The Real Sociedad star is one of the best midfielders in La Liga. He has been absolutely incredible, and Arsenal are set to try and sign him in the summer.
The Gunners, however, won’t be the only ones. Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign him as well, and they could have a great chance of getting him if they appoint Xabi Alonso as their next boss. He used to manage Zubimendi at Sociedad in the past.
Arsenal want to wrap this deal up early. Football Transfers claim this week that the Gunners are ‘working on a wage package’ to offer to Zubimendi that would double his current salary.
The report claims the Spaniard, should he accept Arsenal’s offer of a five-year contract, will pocket wages of £115,000 every week.
Arsenal, who are ready to trigger the midfielder’s £51 million release clause, are expecting Liverpool to try and sign him too. Bayern Munich and Barcelona are the other clubs in the race.

There could be plenty of changes in Arsenal‘s midfield this summer.
Jorginho is out of contract at the end of this season, as is Mohamed Elneny. There is a chance both of them could leave the club.
Thomas Partey will enter the final year of his contract, and he could be sold as well.
Arsenal reportedly believe Martin Zubimendi is more than capable of replacing Partey, so a move for the Spaniard seems very likely this summer.
However, whether Zubimendi is ready to leave his beloved Real Sociedad remains to be seen.
