Liverpool could make a move to sign Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta after sealing the return of Michael Edwards.
That is according to Tutto Mercato Web.
So, what is the situation involving Liverpool and Teun Koopmeiners? Let’s take a look…
Liverpool want Teun Koopmeiners
Well, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have just announced the return of Edwards, who will take over as CEO of football at Anfield in a role which exceeds his previous job as Director of Football at Liverpool.
The 44-year-old is expected to hire Richard Hughes to fulfil that role before the hunt for Jurgen Klopp’s replacement and new signings begins, although there is one name already on the shortlist in Koopmeiners, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
It is said that Liverpool hold a strong admiration for the Netherlands international, and plan to compete against Juventus for the 26-year-old’s signature after a stunning campaign with Atalanta.
The Dutchman has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 33 appearances from a central midfield role this season.
Tutto Mercato Web add that Atalanta want €60m (£51m) to sell Koopmeiners.

Koopmeiners has previously been compared to Toni Kroos – he also plays alongside the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo for the Netherlands.
Michael Edwards must wait
We are personally taking this story with a pinch of salt, as it would be strange for Edwards to target players without knowing who will replace Klopp.

By the sounds of it, Xabi Alonso has a good chance of replacing Klopp this summer…
