Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on Argentina international Alexis Mac Allister, according to La Repubblica.
The Reds have just landed one of the breakthrough stars of the 2022 World Cup in Cody Gakpo.
Liverpool moved quickly for the PSV Eindhoven star, as per the Dutch club’s statement on Monday.

“The 23-year-old attacker will leave for England imminently, where he will be subjected to the necessary formalities ahead of the completion of the transfer.”
Now, links have emerged between Liverpool and another player who made a huge name for himself in Qatar.
La Repubblica claims Mac Allister is now on the radar of the Anfield side.
However, Liverpool will reportedly face competition from the likes of Benfica and Juventus for the 24-year-old.
‘Very proud’
The Reds could really do with bolstering their midfield ranks in 2023 amid expiring contracts and ageing legs.
While Liverpool have been heavily linked with Jude Bellingham, it’s not surprising to see Mac Allister speculation doing the rounds.
Mac Allister’s stock has risen manifold over the past few weeks thanks to his efforts at the World Cup.
He bossed the midfield in the final against France and provided a superb assist for Angel Di Maria en route to Argentina’s first World Cup triumph since 1986.
Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi described his player as “one of the best” in Qatar.

“I had many messages with him and I’m very happy for him.”
And Liverpool legend Graeme Souness deemed him “absolutely exceptional” and better than Lionel Messi in the games he covered.
On Twitter, fans compared Mac Allister to the likes of Andres Iniesta and Aaron Ramsey.
With a reported price tag of £35million, could Liverpool look to add the Brighton ace to their ranks alongside Bellingham?
