Liverpool target Valentin Barco wants to join Manchester City
Well, according to Football Transfers, Valentin Barco is “adamant” that he wants to join Manchester City in the January transfer window. The report has noted that the Boca Juniors star has interest from Liverpool as well.
The report has claimed that Barco’s representatives visited City’s training facility this week. A transfer is likely to happen in January. Manager Pep Guardiola himself is “hoping to swiftly conclude a deal” for the 19-year-old Argentine.
Football Transfers has noted that Barco has a release clause of €10 million (£8.59 million). Calciomercato reported in November interest from Liverpool and Juventus in the 19-year-old, who can play as a left-back, left wing-back or left winger.
No big miss for Liverpool
I do not think that missing out on Valentin Barco would be a big deal for Liverpool. In my view, the former Premier League champions are not in desperate need of another left-sided player.
Andy Robertson is the best left-back at Liverpool. The Scotland international is among the best left-backs in the world. I do not think that the Reds need to worry about finding a potential replacement for him anytime soon.
Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota are the two main left wingers in the Liverpool squad. While Barco could progress in the coming years, he is not the finished article yet. I believe that the Reds, who are aiming to beat City to the Premier League title this season, are not in desperate need of a 19-year-old right now.
