149 Liverpool are admirers of Ruben Amorim as they consider who could potentially replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, while the Sporting boss shares an agent with one Reds star.
It has been less than a week since Jurgen Klopp announced that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. And yet, there are a host of names already in the frame for the post.
Liverpool are interested in Ange Postecoglou. Meanwhile, Thomas Frank also has admirers amongst the Liverpool hierarchy. But there are also a number of other figures in contention.
Liverpool target Ruben Amorim has the same agent as Luis Diaz
According to the Daily Mail, Xabi Alonso is seen as the hot favourite, while Roberto De Zerbi is also viewed as a leading candidate.
But Liverpool are also interested in Ruben Amorim. And the Daily Mail reports that Amorim has the same agent as Luis Diaz. It is noted however, that Amorim is one name on a long list of contenders.
Portuguese would be an interesting choice for Reds
The 39-year-old has done an outstanding job at Sporting, winning the league title in Portugal in 2021. Meanwhile, he has won 131 of his 189 games in charge. They currently lead the way in the top-flight this season, winning their last six games in all competitions.
Amorim is not the marquee name some Liverpool fans may be hoping for when it comes to succeeding Klopp. He only started his managerial career back in 2018 and is unproven outside of Portugal.
He looks to have a fantastic career ahead of him. And the fact he has the same agent as Diaz – who signed for an initial £37 million – may help Liverpool if they look to open negotiations.
But it would certainly be a gamble for the Reds to offer Amorim the chance to follow Klopp in the summer.
Having said that, it is going to be a roll of the dice whoever they turn to.
