A player Liverpool and Manchester United have wanted to sign for years is now available this summer.
Both the Reds and the Red Devils have busy summers ahead of them, as Liverpool prepare for life after Jurgen Klopp, while Manchester United seem likely to part ways with Erik ten Hag.
Therefore, a marquee signing certainly would not go amiss – and a player who has been on Liverpool and Manchester United‘s radar for some time is now on the market…
Liverpool and Manchester United told Jan Oblak is up for sale
Well – according to AS – Atletico Madrid have now decided to sell Jan Oblak.
The Spanish news outlet mention that the Slovenia international was a target for Liverpool and Manchester United across “many seasons” – but Atletico Madrid always said no.
Now – however – Diego Simeone has decided to sell Oblak.
AS explain that the Atletico Madrid No.13 has “lost his status as an irreplaceable player” at the Wanda Metropolitano, as those in the boardroom eye a squad revamp, which will be funded by the sales of big names deemed to be expendable this summer.

AS also mention that the 31-year-old would prefer a move to the Premier League if he does leave Madrid this summer, which bodes well for Liverpool and Manchester United if the English duo are still interested.
Such is Atletico Madrid’s desire to move Oblak on, that AS believe Simeone’s side are only requesting €30m (£26m) for the glovesman, who has a €120m (£103m) release clause written into his contract.
The man from Skofja Loka has made 49 appearances in all competitions this season, keeping 12 clean sheets while conceding 64 goals in total.
Potential Alisson replacement
This rumour may fall on deaf ears, as Manchester United only recently spent £50m to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan, while Liverpool arguably boast the best goalkeeper in Europe in Alisson Becker.

Respected journalist Dean Jones recently told the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast there is a possibility of Alisson leaving Liverpool, saying: “There’s a small chance Alisson leaves, that might come onto the radar, that might be some sort of issue they have to deal with there as well, there’s a lot that needs sorting out here.”
We highly doubt the South American will leave Liverpool this summer, but if he does depart, then perhaps the Reds will finally get their hands on Oblak.
