The young player shone against Italy

Liverpool are reportedly one of a few clubs interested in Nico Williams, with the promising young Spanish player back in the headlines after a strong performance against a defensively organized Italy.

The 21-year-old Athletic Bilbao player reportedly has a £49 million release clause, but Liverpool are far from alone in their interest and will face stiff competition — including likely from rivals — should the Reds actually be interested in securing the Spaniard’s services.

Daniel Sturridge complimented Williams’ skillset this week, pointing out how valuable his profile is given his compliment of “speed, skill, and direct[ness].” Like Sturridge himself, Williams does look a delightful watch on the ball, and will likely grow into being some player.

Should Williams join Liverpool after the Euros, he will be just the second Neco/Nico Williams on the club’s books.
