Liverpool lost to Manchester United today to end their quadruple hopes and Jamie Carragher has got himself involved on social media.

The Liverpool legend had the day off from coverage with the game not on Sky. Instead, it was over to his friends Roy Keane and Ian Wright to cover the game for ITV.

However, never one to shy away from an opinion or an argument online, Carragher couldn’t resist clapping back at former United defender Rio Ferdinand after the full-time whistle.

Of course, the United v Liverpool fixture always brings out the former players and now pundits. And with United winning, former defender Rio Ferdinand took to X to post about the win.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND –

However, Liverpool hero Carragher seemed to take exception to the tweet, and instantly replied in an attempt to bring Ferdinand back down to Earth.

Telling Ferdinand to seemingly calm down and not get too excited, Carragher also offered up his prediction for what will happen in the rest of the competition.

Relax 😂😂
Man City will beat you comfortably in the final & ETH will still be in charge next season.
It’s not the win you think it is!! https://t.co/WUxVnv7VU3

United have every right to celebrate this one

If you can’t take to socials to have your say after beating your nearest and biggest rivals with a last minute winner, then when can you.

Carragher has obviously taken exception to the tweet from Ferdinand but at the end of the day, that’s the game everyone is in now.

For United, it will feel like an enormous win in an otherwise frustrating season. It also gives them the chance of a trophy, while at the same time, derailing Liverpool’s own hopes of making history.

United will fancy their chances in the semi and then if they do get to the final, then it’s just one game for glory.

Carragher’s prediction here might well come true. But United have won one off games in recent seasons and if they get to the final, they’ll fancy it.
