It’s safe to say Liverpool have not started the season the way their fans would have wanted.

The Reds had an incredible campaign last season, reaching every final possible and taking the Premier League title race to the last day.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Daily Mail journalist Dominic King has had his say on what’s going on at Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side already find themselves 11 points off the top of the Premier League.

The Reds struggled to a 3-3 draw with Brighton, and could prevent Leandro Trossard scoring a fantastic hat-trick.

King has noticed that the atmosphere at Anfield this season is ‘really quiet’.

Liverpool fans would have been subdued by Trossard’s late leveller, but have had plenty to cheer about at Anfield this season.

They’re currently unbeaten at home in all competitions this season, including an emphatic 9-0 win against Bournemouth.

However, many members of the squad haven’t hit the same heights as they did last season, and Liverpool fans will know they’re capable of more.

The standard of Liverpool’s defending has certainly suffered this season, which could be affecting Anfield’s atmosphere.

King: ‘Atmosphere’s gone really quiet inside Anfield’

Anfield is set to host one of Liverpool’s biggest games of the season so far, as Rangers visit this evening in the Champions League.

After a disastrous defeat to Napoli, this match is vital to Liverpool’s Champions League future.

Liverpool’s performance was so bad, some pundits were questioning if Virgil van Dijk would ever reach his best levels again.

The atmosphere at Anfield is certainly going to play a part tonight, and after King’s comments, will need to be better than it has been this season.

“I think there’s a hangover from the end of last season, in terms of how they lost the Premier League and the Champions League in the space of a week.” King said.

“Plenty of people are dispelling that, but I do think deep down there’s something there.

“The one thing that’s really stuck out to me in home games is the fact that the atmosphere’s gone really quiet inside Anfield.

“The scenes at the end when there were people leaving for the exits way before injury time.

“That was reminiscent of one of the first games that Klopp was in charge of against Crystal Palace, and he said that he felt alone.

“He said afterwards on Saturday that he understood where the fans were coming from this time.

“When it first happened, he was angry about it, and he wanted to change it and this time he can sort of understand why people are a little bit sceptical about the team.
