‘Really poor’: Pundit says Liverpool have a £4m player who’s offering way more than Mo Salah at the moment

Mohamed Salah has been off the pace for Liverpool as of late.

Yes, he’s still chipping in with plenty of goals – a penalty against Man Utd and a simple strike against Brighton recently, but he seems to be just a beat behind in terms of his all-round play at the moment.

The Egyptian has been injured recently, so perhaps there is an element of rust there, but it has to be said that he hasn’t been at his best lately.

Speaking on The Game Football Podcast, Tony Cascarino has made the case for Salah to be dropped, claiming that Liverpool have another player who has been offering more than Salah recently.

Mohamed Salah should be dropped

Cascarino spoke about Salah, claiming that Harvey Elliott has been better recently.

“Salah has been poor. Salah should’ve been dropped. Anyone who says otherwise isn’t watching Liverpool every week. Salah has had a really poor period. Is there a time as a manager in your final run-in where you have to make a massive call and you’ll get ridiculed if it goes wrong. Harvey Elliott has offered way more than Salah in his recent performances,” Cascarino said.

You can’t drop Mohamed Salah

As much as we agree with Cascarino about Salah’s recent form, it’s impossible to actually agree that he should be dropped.

The winger has proven over so many years just how good he is, and if he clicks back into form, Liverpool will be back on track before they know it.

The Reds lost ground in the title race at the weekend, but their best route back to where they want to be may be via Salah’s goals.

Elliott has been brilliant recently, let’s not take anything away from the £4m man, but Salah’s track record has earned him the right to start in every game between now and the end of the season.
