Liverpool central defender Ibrahima Konate has given his verdict on Dominic Solanke, who has been linked with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Konate is likely to come up against Solanke when Liverpool lock horns with Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.
So, what has Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate said about Arsenal target Dominic Solanke? Let’s take a look.
Arsenal linked with Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke
Well, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke in the January transfer window.
In December 2023, The Daily Star reported that although Arsenal’s main target in January is Brentford striker Ivan Toney, they do not want to pay over the odds for the Englishman and have identified Solanke of Bournemouth as a potential alternative.
The Daily Star claimed that Arsenal could make a bid for Solanke if they cannot get Toney. Manager Mikel Arteta is personally an admirer of the former Liverpool striker, who cost Bournemouth £19 million in transfer fees and is rated highly by Paul Merson.

Solanke has scored 12 goals and given one assist in 19 Premier League matches for the Cherries this season.
Konate told Liverpool’s official website about Solanke: “It’s true that we have seen Solanke having a really good spell, particularly in the last month, where he’s scored six goals, if I remember rightly.
“He’s in a really good vein of form and he will be high on confidence. And so it’s now down to us, the whole team and me also as a defender, to make sure we put an end to that good run of form on behalf of our team”
Arsenal fans will hope that Solanke scores against Liverpool on Sunday and leads the Reds to a win.
After all, Arsenal and Liverpool are in the race for the Premier League title this season.
I think that Manchester City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup, are the favourites, but both Arsenal and Liverpool will feel that they can go all the way this season.
