Liverpool won out to progress in the FA Cup this afternoon as they made it three defeats on the spin for Arsenal.
The Reds were good value for the win as well, holding strong in the face of some intense early Arsenal pressure before taking their chances when it mattered.
First, an own goal from Jakub Kiwior gave the Reds the lead before with almost the final kick of the game, Luis Diaz netted to ensure a nice trip back to the north-west for the travelling Liverpool fans.
Of course, goals are what win games. But defending also matters and watching on for the BBC, Alan Shearer was super impressed with how good Ibrahima Konate was for Liverpool.

“He’s had a really good game has Konate. He’s been put under huge pressure at times. Without Van Dijk today, Konate has had to stand up and be the leader at the back. He’s made some important tackles today. Shearer said.
Alan Shearer impressed with Ibou Konate during Liverpool v Arsenal
Konate certainly seemed to step up tonight as the dominated the Arsenal forwards at times and made some big moments look easy.
With Virgil van Dijk out, it was imperative that Konate stepped up to the plate and he did just that.
Shearer was obviously impressed and had even commented on one impressive piece of defending from Konate earlier in the game.
“That’s what you call backing your teammate up. Trent was beaten there, he needed a little bit of help there and it’s exactly what Konate did, great defending,” Shearer commented.
With a busy schedule now remaining even busier with a fourth round tie to come, Jurgen Klopp will need all his best players like Konate to be on form.
Based on today’s showing, the £36m defender is definitely going to be up to the task.
