Liverpool’s search for a new manager has had plenty of twists and turns over the past few months.
Indeed, at different points of this process a number of managers have been said to be favourites for the job.
Now, it looks as though Arne Slot is in the driving seat, but, before the Dutchman’s name emerged, Ruben Amorim was said to be the frontrunner.
However, Amorim is seemingly no longer in the race, and according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Liverpool are actually not happy with the 39-year-old manager.

Jones shared why Liverpool aren’t happy with Amorim.
“I think that Amorim was a really good fit, and I was pleased that he was going to get this opportunity to move on, now it looks like things have changed and if West Ham look elsewhere I wonder what happens,” The host said.
“It was silly mate, he shouldn’t have gone into those discussions, that really annoyed Liverpool. It was silly. He put some demands on Liverpool. Liverpool didn’t want to be spoken to like that, and they set out what they’d pay a manager and what they’d be interested in. Then he goes to West Ham, a job he’s, by all accounts, not that interested in, hoping that Liverpool would come back to him, but Liverpool have been like ‘seriously, no.’ and they’ve moved on from him,” Jones said.
Ruben Amorim might stay at Sporting
Jones says that he’s not sure what will happen to Amorim now, and the reality is that he might just stay at Sporting.
The Portuguese gaffer, clearly, has high demands of any club that wants him, and if those demands are met, he’ll be happy to stay where he is.
Staying at Sporting isn’t the end of the world for a 39-year-old manager with a huge future in the game, but after messing Liverpool around, don’t be shocked if he’s burnt some bridges at Anfield and ruined his chances of being considered for this job again in the future.
