The promising 19-year-old midfielder is a top target for former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders and RB Salzburg.
One of the top stories of the 2023-24 season for Liverpool was the emergence of a number of promising youth players, with Jürgen Klopp’s kids particularly prominent in and key to the Reds’ League Cup final triumph over Chelsea.
Near the top of any list for most was midfielder Bobby Clark, a 19-year-old who by the end of the campaign had made a dozen first team appearances. It appears increasingly likely, though, that Clark will now depart on a permanent transfer.
That’s because Klopp’s former assistant and new RB Salzburg manager Pepijn Lijnders wants to sign him on a permanent deal, and with Liverpool being well stocked in the middle of the pitch the club are willing to deal for the right price.
So far, a pair of bids for Clark have been rejected, but The Times’ Paul Joyce says that Lijnders and Salzburg have now submitted a third bid of £10M for a player Liverpool signed from Newcastle for £1.5M back in the summer of 2021.
For fans it would be disappointing to see a promising youngster depart—which isn’t certain but seems likely, especially after a cryptic social media post from Clark—but at least he would be joining a manager who clearly believes in him.
